Winter in Byron Bay: What’s On

Byron Bay is the perfect winter short break destination. With an average mid-year temperature of just 22 degrees and no summer crowds, winter is the ideal season to indulge in whale watching, walks along the beach, bike riding, exploring our many historical hinterland towns or taking in one of the numerous winter festivals. Not to mention the pleasures of winter camping, including warm mugs of hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows!!!

Whale Of A Time

From the iconic Byron Bay lighthouse enjoy breathtaking views of the migrating Humpback whales right through the winter months. With Cape Byron being the most easterly point in Australia, the whales come very close to the coastline, making it one of Australia’s best whale watching destinations. If you want to get up close, then there are many boat tours operating daily and we can help you organise everything.

The dates for the 2012 event are Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July. No artist announcements have been made as yet, but we’ll keep you posted!

There is no doubt Byron Bay loves a festival! In just over a month’s time, thousands will descend on beautiful Byron Bay over the Easter long weekend for Byron Bay Bluesfest. This year’s line up includes headliners Cold Chisel, John Fogerty Crosby Stills and Nash, Earth Wind and Fire, The Pogues, The Specials and John Butler Trio – just to name a few.

In addition to the incredible artists performing, the Bluesfest also offers abundant food stalls, market stalls, undercover chill out areas and a variety of bars. Not enough? Well, how about a large CD store, street performers and talented buskers performing throughout the day. So much to do, see and hear!
